Buincelemede, Elazığ ili KB’sında Yukarı Çakmak civarında yüzeyleyen ve havzadageniş yayılım gösteren Kırkgeçit Formasyonu’nun planktonik foraminifer içeriği veortamsal yorumu çalışılmıştır. Kırkgeçit Formasyonu’na ait toplam kalınlığı159m olarak ölçülen kesitten, 36 tortul kayaç örneği derlenmiş ve buörneklerden 9 planktonik foraminifer cinsi ve 26 türü tanımlanmıştır. Biriminlitolojik özellikleri ile planktonik/bentik foraminifer oranı, inceleme alanındakiistifin “derin deniz-sığ deniz” ortam koşullarında çökelmiş olduğunugöstermektedir. Inthis research, the planktonic foraminifera content and environmentalinterpretation of the Kırkgeçit Formation, which is exposed over large area inthe Yukarı Çakmak NW of Elazığ, was studied. The total thickness of 159m. fromthe measured sections which is representing Kırkgeçit Formation was collected36 sedimantery samples. 9 planktonic foraminifera genera and 26 planktonicforaminifera species of 36 sedimantery samples were described. The lithologicalproperties and planktonic/benthic foraminifera ratio all indicate that thisformation was deposited under deep marine-shallow marine conditions in thestudy area.
