ŞemseddinSami tells the woman in her book, Women. Addressing women's problems andwomen's social life, writers argue that women should play an active role insociety. The writer refers to the general characteristics of women, such assharp intelligence, unity and jealousy, expressing that women should work invarious professions in society. The author, indicating that jobs such asteaching, nursing, shop assistant, tailoring are jobs suitable for women,refers to the importance of increasing women's employment in theseoccupations.However, women should not work in the field, to double-drive, todig the land, to cut the wood that requires physicalstrength and the men work to do. Educating women means educating societyon a basis. It notes that the first trainer to train the children in the familyis the woman in the mother role. She is the mother who trains children in thefamily. The training of a woman who plays such a vital role is unquestionable.If women are ignorant, society is basically shaken and ignorance is spread.However, if the woman is cultured and knowledgeable, society is connected bystrong links. Thus, Şemseddin Sami, who says that the most important individualwho constitutes the family is women, emphasizes that women can provide peace andhappiness in society. If women are happy, the society is also generous. Then weshould strive to ensure the happiness of women. Women attract men to family andprovide the happiness and peace of society. Thewriter has written a remarkable work which gives the perspective of Ottomansociety to women. ŞemseddinSami Kadınlar adlı eserinde kadın konusuna eğilir. Kadın sorunlarına ve kadınınsosyal hayattaki yerine değinen yazar kadınların toplumda etkin bir şekilde rolalmaları gerektiğini savunur. Kadınların genel özellikleri olan keskinzekâlılık, birleştiricilik ve kıskançlık gibi konulara değinen yazar kadınlarıntoplumda çeşitli mesleklerde çalışmaları gerektiğini ifade eder. Öğretmenlik,hastabakıcılık, tezgâhtarlık, terzilik gibi işlerin kadınlara uygun mesleklerolduğunu belirten yazar bu mesleklerde kadın istihdamının arttırılmasınınönemine değinir. Ancak kadınların tarlada çalışmak, çift sürmek, kazma iletoprağı kazmak, odun kesmek gibi erkeğin yapması gereken ve fizikî kuvvetgerektiren işleri yapmamaları gerekir. Kadınları eğitmek toplumu temelindeneğitmek anlamına gelir. Ailede çocukları eğiten ilk eğitmenin de anne rolündekikadın olduğuna dikkat çeker. Çocuklara terbiye veren, onları eğiten annedir.Böylesine hayati bir rolü üstlenen kadının eğitilmesi elzemdir. Kadın cahilolursa toplum da temelden sarsılır ve cehalet yayılır. Ancak kadın kültürlü vebilgiliyse toplum da güçlü bağlarla birbirine bağlanır. Böylece aileyioluşturan en önemli bireyin kadın olduğunu söyleyen Şemseddin Sami toplumunhuzur ve mutluluğunu da kadınların sağlayabileceğini vurgular. Kadınlar mutluolursa toplumun geneli de mutlu olur. O halde kadınların saadetini temin etmekiçin toplum olarak gayret etmek gerekir. Bununla birlikte kadınlar erkekleriaile kurmaya çeken, toplumun saadetini ve huzurunu sağlayan bireylerdir.
