| Summary: | XVII. Although it is accepted that the Cretan War, which had a profound political, economic and social impact on the parties involved in the war in the 19th century, resulted in the victory of the Ottoman Empire, the development of the events is too long and important to be reduced to the end. Although it is not surprising that this war, which lasted for about 24 years, has been studied extensively in second-hand literature and valuable works have been unearthed, it is an undeniable fact that manuscripts, conquests, Anonymous Tevarih-i Al-i Osmans and Chronicles in first-hand literature are of greater importance. In order to learn in detail what the Ottoman Empire experienced during the war and their perspective on events, we have many other works not mentioned here, such as Naima History, Silahdar History, Tevarih-i Cezire-i Girit, Gazavatname-i Cezire-i Girit and Zadre. The work we will introduce in this article, in terms of its content, not only saves us from the one-sided perspective we acquired by reading Ottoman sources about this war, but also provides us with many details about the allied navy. XVII. yüzyılı savaşa katılan taraflar nezdinde siyasal, ekonomik ve sosyal açıdan derinden etkilemiş olan Girit Savaşı’nın, Osmanlı Devleti’nin galibiyeti ile sonuçlandığı kabul edilse de olayların gelişimi sonuca indirgenemeyecek kadar uzun ve önemlidir. Yaklaşık 24 yıl boyunca süren bu savaşın ikinci el literatürde çokça çalışılması ve değerli eserlerin ortaya çıkarılması şaşırtıcı olmamakla birlikte birinci el literatürdeki yazma eserler, fetihnameler, Anonim Tevarih-i Al-i Osman’lar ve Vakayinamelerin daha büyük bir önem arz ettiği yadsınamaz bir gerçektir. Osmanlı Devleti’nin savaş esnasında yaşadıklarını ve olaylara bakış açılarını detaylı olarak öğrenebilmek için Naima Tarihi, Silahdar Tarihi, Tevarih-i Cezire-i Girit, Gazavatname-i Cezire-i Girit ve Zadre gibi burada zikredilmeyen daha birçok esere sahibiz.
