Bird Species and Red List Category in Important Wetlands of Burdur Province

Turkey is very rich in ecosystem and species diversity, as it is located at the intersections of three continents and three phytogeographic regions, under the influence of different climate types, and on key bird migration routes. It is home to the shelter, feeding and breeding of birds, especially in the wetlands it has. The study was conducted between July 2021 and April 2022 to determine the Ornitofauna of Lake Burdur, Lake Karataş, Lake Salda, Lake Yarışlı and Lake Gölhisar in Burdur province. Species were determined by the Line transect and Point counts method in seasonal periods. The surface area, width and length values of the lakes was calculated from Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) images produced using Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS C1 Level-1 images of the lakes in 2021. A total of 105 species of 17 orders and 39 families were identified in the research areas. One of these species, Numenius arquata, Lanius senator, Vanellus vanellus was found in the NT (Near threatened) category according to the IUCN criteria, in the Aythya ferina and Streptopelia turtur VU (vulnurable), and 100 species were found in the LC (Least Concern) category. Türkiye üç kıtanın ve üç fitocoğrafik bölgenin kesişim noktasında yer alması, farklı iklim tiplerinin etkisi altında olması, önemli kuş göç yolları üzerinde bulunması nedeniyle ekosistem ve tür çeşitliliği bakımından oldukça zengindir. Özellikle sahip olduğu sulak alanlar kuşların barınma, beslenme ve üremelerine ev sahipliği yapmaktadır. Çalışma Temmuz 2021- Nisan 2022 tarihleri arasında, Burdur ili’nde yer alan Burdur Gölü, Karataş Gölü, Salda Gölü, Yarışlı Gölü ve Gölhisar göllerine ait ornitofaunayı tespit etmek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Türler mevsimsel periyotlar halinde Hat Boyunca Gözlem (Line transect) ve Noktasal Gözlem (Point counts) metodu ile belirlenmiştir.
