The Icelandic translation of Hasta no verte, Jesús mío was well received by critics and readers alike. On the occasion of its publication in 2012, Elena Poniatowska visited the country to the great joy of Icelandic literature enthusiasts. In this essay the translator, María Rán Guðjónsdóttir, examines the process of translating the novel, the challenge of transmitting a text and culture of a source language so different from the target language, in consideration of Ortega y Gasset’s concept of the translator’s "misery and splendor." La traducción al islandés de Hasta no verte, Jesús mío fue bien recibida entre críticos y lectores por igual. Con motivo de su publicación en 2012, Elena Poniatowska visitó este país para la alegría de entusiastas islandeses de la literatura latinoamericana. En este ensayo, la traductora María Rán Guðjónsdóttir, examina el proceso de traducción de la novela, el reto de transmitir el texto y la cultura del idioma de origen tan diferente al idioma de la traducción, y tomando en cuenta el concepto, de Ortega y Gasset, de "miseria y esplendor" para el traductor.
