Tracking antimicrobial peptides in a bank of Crassostrea gigas ESTs using homology search and pattern discovery methods

Summary: | This study describes the discovery of three potential, cationic, cysteine rich, CS alpha beta pattern containing antimicrobial peptides from a bank of Crassostrea gigas EST’s using homology search and pattern discovery methods. The EST's encoding two of these peptides were sourced from bacteria challenged hemocytes and one from the mantle edge tissue. Their in-vitro isolation and characterization is currently in progress. |
