CMIP6 Arctic Open-Water Periods
"Regionalized" CSV Files: Regionally averaged annual values for three passive-microwave datasets (NASA Team, Boostrap, and OSIDAF) and CMIP6 models from four experiments (historical, ssp126, ssp245, and ssp585). OPCavg = the average open-water period (days). LRDlt = % of area in a region o...

Region Definitions CSV File: The names of each of 15 Arctic sea ice regions and the climatological day-of-year for which sea ice typically retreats (LRDThresh) and advances (FADThresh). These are rounded to always be the first and last of a month, respectively, for non-leap years. Region Sizes CSV File : Size in km 2 ("area") and number of grid cells ("NCells") for each CMIP6 model and the three passive microwave (PMW) datasets. the number of grid cells is highly sensitive on the spatial resolution of the datasets. The area is somewhat sensitivity to the resolution and the projection. Exceedance Date NetCDF Files: Year for which the open-water period first exceeds 90, 180, or 270 days for that year and the following four years (i.e., "long-term exceedance") for CMIP6 models in the ssp126, ssp245, and ssp585 experiments. Exceedance Temp NetCDF Files : Global temperature anomaly (°C w.r.t. 1850-1900 average) for which the open-water period first exceeds 90, 180, or 270 days based on the ssp585 experiment. (The sea ice-temperature relationship is largely insensitive to experiment chosen. The ssp585 experiment is therefore chosen since it provides the largest range of global temperature anomalies.)
