Dataset-ID: 065-001-001 Dataset: Provides a series of indicators representing annual macroeconomic aggregates, including Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and its main components, on the European Union, the euro area, EU Member States, candidate countries, European Free Trade Association countries, US, Japan, and other countries on an ad hoc basis. National accounts are widely used for economic analysis and forecasting, policy design, and policy making. Eurostat publishes annual and quarterly national accounts, annual and quarterly sector accounts as well as supply, use and input-output tables, which are each presented with associated metadata. Annual national accounts are compiled in accordance with the European System of Accounts - ESA 1995 (Council Regulation 2223/96). Annex B of the Regulation consists of a comprehensive list of the variables to be transmitted for Community purposes within specified time limits. This transmission program has been updated by Regulation (EC) N° 1392/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council. The domain consists of the following collections: (1) GDP and main aggregates; (2) final consumption aggregates, including the split into household and government consumption; (3) income, saving, and net lending/net borrowing at current prices, with disposable income also shown in real terms; (4) exports and imports by Member States of the EU/third countries; (5) breakdowns of gross value added, compensation of employees, wages and salaries, operating surplus, employment (domestic scope), gross fixed capital formation (GFCF) and fixed assets and other main aggregates by industry, and investment by products and household final consumption expenditure by consumption purposes (COICOP); and (6) auxiliary indicators, including population and employment national data, purchasing power parities, contributions to GDP growth, labor productivity, unit labor cost, and GDP per capita. Indicators are also provided for Regional Economic Accounts, which presents economic data by NUTS (Nomenclature of Units for Territorial Statistics) regions as defined and regulated by the European Union. The data are published in ECU/euro, in national currencies (including euro converted from former national currencies using the irrevocably fixed rate for all years) and in Purchasing Power Standards (PPS), and at current prices and in volume terms. Population and employment are measured in persons, and employment is also measured in total hours worked. National accounts breakdowns by industry grouping are presented at several levels of NACE Rev. 1 and Rev. 2 classifications, using the European System of Classifications 1995 (ESA-95): NACE is a 4-digit nomenclature of economic activities that was originally drawn up in 1970 and further developed over subsequent decades, with a major revision in 2002 resulting in Rev. 2. Provides harmonized, national-level data on the euro area, European Union (EU) member states, EU candidate states, and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries, where available. Indicators are presented in seven broad categories: economy and finance; population and social conditions; industry, trade, and services; agriculture, forestry, and fisheries; international trade; transportation; environment and energy; and science and technology. The euro area comprises the EU member states that adopted the euro as their common currency, which was established in January 1999 with 11 countries and has expanded to 17 countries known as the EA-17: Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia and Finland. The EU (EU-27) includes the EA-17 countries plus: Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. EFTA currently comprises Liechtenstein, Iceland, Norway, and Switzerland.
