Summary:Welsh Wreck Web Research Project unpublished report series, 1 ... : The Pluvier was a schooner built in Plymouth by W. S. Kelly and sold to a local commissioning agent, W.G. Crinks and his business partner. It entered the Newfoundland salt fish trade, before it was sold and reregistered at Aberystwyth. Pluvier then mainly sailed from Porthmadog to Germany and the Baltic with slates. The Pluvier was involved in the usual mishaps of a sailing vessel including a series of collisions and groundings, and on one approach to Bristol a series of such, involving seven vessels. The Pluvier was involved in a collision while anchored in St Tudwal's Roads involving two other vessels where her foremast fell and the crew were rescued by lifeboat. Pluvier was later sold again and entered the salt fish trade, foundering in a gale off Cork, Ireland on her return journey, all the crew perished. ...
