COMPOSITION AND DISTRIBUTION. — Distributed on all continents except Antarctica, currently numbering 62 species of which only three occur in Central America: P. mexicanus (Saussure, 1861), P. toltecus (Saussure, 1861), and P. freygessnerii Bolívar, 1887. REMARK The body of literature concerning this genus and its species is enormous.
