Summary:Leander tenuicornis (Say, 1818) Material examined (N=6). 1m, 1f, 24/IV/2004, St. 0 1 (MZUESC #650). Distribution. Western Atlantic – Bermuda, east coast of the United States, Gulf of Mexico, Central America, Antilles, northern South America, and Brazil (Fernando de Noronha, and from Maranhão to Bahia). Eastern Atlantic. Mediterranean. Indo-Pacific (Ramos-Porto 1986). According to Williams (1984), in the western Atlantic this species occurs from Newfoundland (Canada) to the Falklands Islands. Tropical and subtropical waters around the world, except off the west coast of the Americas (Chace 1972; Williams 1984). Li et al. (2004) described in detail the distribution of L. tenuicornis in the Indo-Pacific: Red Sea, from South Africa to Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, and South China Sea. According to Li et al. (2004), the record from the Falklands is doubtful. Ecological notes. On gravel and sand bottoms covered with seagrass.
