Ctenocephalides canis Curtis—dog flea Ex Canis lupus (domestic dog): 3M, 16F, NC, Haywood Co., Purchase Knob, W. K. Reeves, 31 Jul. 2003, L­ 3089. The above record appears to be the first from the Park for this cosmopolitan flea of domestic dogs and some other canids (Durden & Kollars 1997). The dog flea is an intermediate host for the double pored dog tapeworm (Durden & Traub 2002). Parola et al.
