Other label: Lepthyphantes simplex Emerton 1926. 3 HOLOLECTOTYPE, Saaristo & Koponen 1996. Diagnosis: Males are distinguished from all species by their uniformly serrated lamella characteristica with pointed tip (Fig. 158). From A. uta by their pointed retrolateral tibial apophysis (Fig. 158), rounded in the latter (Fig. 165). Females are differentiated from all species by their proximal part of scape, very narrow apically (Fig. 162). From A. uta by the absence of a tinge of dark gray on the proximal part of scape (Fig. 162). Description: Male : Total length 1.74; carapace length 0.73, width 0.57. MAP. 8. Localities of Agyneta simplex (Emerton 1926), distribution based on material examined, distribution based on Paquin et al . 2010. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace dark brown, shiny, finely reticulate; suffused with dark gray along margin, radiating lines; trident mark often present. Sternum dark brown strongly suffused with dark gray. Clypeus height 2. Chelicerae brown apical part lighter, with transverse dark gray band, not excavated; seta-tipped tubercles absent; promargin four denticles, retromargin four denticles; without projections near base of fang. Cheliceral stridulatory organ ~ 47 striae, well spaced getting closer basally. ABDOMEN: Uniformly dark gray. LEGS: Yellow; femur I and tibia I dark brown, retrolateral and prolateral sides of femora II-IV dark brown, tibia II-IV light brown; leg I total length: 2.47; leg III total length: 1.78; Tm I: 0.33, Tm IV: absent. GENITALIA: Palpal tibia rugose; retrolateral tibial apophysis short, pointed and rugose; dorsal tibial apophysis absent; two retrolateral trichobothria and a dorsal one (Fig. 158). Cymbium triangular; glabrous depression present (Fig. 158); dorsal cymbial tubercle wide, rounded and smooth; ventral cymbial tubercle absent; prolateral notch absent (Fig. 159). Paracymbium apical pocket small, anterior pocket curved and deep, reaching the short and curved posterior pocket (Fig. 158). Embolus tip pointed, straight; Fickert’s gland absent; ventral lamella, narrow and pointed; thumb short reaching below the embolus proper (Fig. 160). Embolus proper set apically, dorsal part wider, serrated (Fig. 160). Anterior terminal apophysis wide with a few short protrusions; posterior terminal apophysis striate; lamella characteristica large, serrated, ending in pointed tip (Fig. 161). Female : Total length 1.78; carapace length 0.75, width 0.57. CEPHALOTHORAX: Same coloration as male. Chelicerae yellow; promargin five teeth, retromargin five denticles. Cheliceral stridulatory organ ~ 42 striae, narrowly spaced throughout. ABDOMEN: Same as male. LEGS: Same as male; palpal apendages dark brown, tarsal claw absent; leg I total length: 2.04; leg III total length: 1.88; Tm I: 0.31, Tm IV: absent. GENITALIA: Epigynum with wide, triangular proximal part of scape; epigynal slits oval; pit hook depression absent (Fig. 162); lateral lobes large and short; stretcher seemingly absent; pit small (Fig. 163). Median part of scape wide and short; genital pores situated at base of lateral lobes pockets (Fig. 164). Internal genitalia with a large rounded receptacula and a large, oval dorsal one (Figs 163, 164). Diagnosis: Males are distinguished from all species by their uniformly serrated lamella characteristica with pointed tip (Fig. 158). From A. uta by their pointed retrolateral tibial apophysis (Fig. 158), rounded in the latter (Fig. 165). Females are differentiated from all species by their proximal part of scape, very narrow apically (Fig. 162). From A. uta by the absence of a tinge of dark gray on the proximal part of scape (Fig. 162). Description: Male : Total length 1.74; carapace length 0.73, width 0.57. MAP. 8. Localities of Agyneta simplex (Emerton 1926), distribution based on material examined, distribution based on Paquin et al . 2010. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace dark brown, shiny, finely reticulate; suffused with dark gray along margin, radiating lines; trident mark often present. Sternum dark brown strongly suffused with dark gray. Clypeus height 2. Chelicerae brown apical part lighter, with transverse dark gray band, not excavated; seta-tipped tubercles absent; promargin four denticles, retromargin four denticles; without projections near base of fang. Cheliceral stridulatory organ ~ 47 striae, well spaced getting closer basally. ABDOMEN: Uniformly dark gray. LEGS: Yellow; femur I and tibia I dark brown, retrolateral and prolateral sides of femora II-IV dark brown, tibia II-IV light brown; leg I total length: 2.47; leg III total length: 1.78; Tm I: 0.33, Tm IV: absent. GENITALIA: Palpal tibia rugose; retrolateral tibial apophysis short, pointed and rugose; dorsal tibial apophysis absent; two retrolateral trichobothria and a dorsal one (Fig. 158). Cymbium triangular; glabrous depression present (Fig. 158); dorsal cymbial tubercle wide, rounded and smooth; ventral cymbial tubercle absent; prolateral notch absent (Fig. 159). Paracymbium apical pocket small, anterior pocket curved and deep, reaching the short and curved posterior pocket (Fig. 158). Embolus tip pointed, straight; Fickert’s gland absent; ventral lamella, narrow and pointed; thumb short reaching below the embolus proper (Fig. 160). Embolus proper set apically, dorsal part wider, serrated (Fig. 160). Anterior terminal apophysis wide with a few short protrusions; posterior terminal apophysis striate; lamella characteristica large, serrated, ending in pointed tip (Fig. 161). Female : Total length 1.78; carapace length 0.75, width 0.57. CEPHALOTHORAX: Same coloration as male. Chelicerae yellow; promargin five teeth, retromargin five denticles. Cheliceral stridulatory organ ~ 42 striae, narrowly spaced throughout. ABDOMEN: Same as male. LEGS: Same as male; palpal apendages dark brown, tarsal claw absent; leg I total length: 2.04; leg III total length: 1.88; Tm I: 0.31, Tm IV: absent. GENITALIA: Epigynum with wide, triangular proximal part of scape; epigynal slits oval; pit hook depression absent (Fig. 162); lateral lobes large and short; stretcher seemingly absent; pit small (Fig. 163). Median part of scape wide and short; genital pores situated at base of lateral lobes pockets (Fig. 164). Internal genitalia with a large rounded receptacula and a large, oval dorsal one (Figs 163, 164).
