Summary: | Distribution and status of diurnal forest raptors in Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac Natural Park.- A census of was carried out of breeding populations of raptors seven raptor species with predominantly forest habitats: the common buzzard (Buteo buteo), the short-toed snake eagle (Circaetus gallicus), the goshawk (Accipiter gentilis), the Eurasian hobby (Falco subbuteo), the Eurasian sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus), the European honey buzzard (Pernis apivorus) and the booted eagle (Aquila pennata). The method used was based on identifying territories from fixed observation points, selecting 21 elevated points that overlook potentially suitable forest areas. Four visits per point were conducted during the months from March to July 2012. With the data from this census, the territories of the buzzard and goshawk in March 2013 in order to detect their breeding grounds. At least 43 territories occupied by six diurnal forest raptors were observed |
