Description
Summary:Subfamily PEPSINAE Lepeletier de Saint Fargeau, 1845 Auplopus Spinola, 1841 Type species . Pompilus femoratus Fabricius, 1804, South America, by monotypy. Distribution . Russia: European part, Ural, Western and Eastern Siberia, Far East; worldwide (Loktionov & Lelej 2014). Caliadurgus Pate, 1946 (= Calicurgus Lepeletier de Saint Fargeau, 1845, type species Pompilus fasciatellus Spinola, 1808 = Sphex hyalinata Fabricius, 1793, by subsequent designation of Kohl 1884: 45; nom. praeocc., nec Calicurgus Brullé, 1833). Type species . Pompilus fasciatellus Spinola, 1808, by automatic designation (see Calicurgus Lepeletier de Saint Fargeau, 1845) (Article 67.8 of the Code (ICZN 1999)); the supposed designation of Sphex hyalinata Fabricius, 1793 as type species (Pate 1946: 78) is invalid. Distribution . Russia: European part, Western and Eastern Siberia, Far East (Loktionov & Lelej 2014); Palaearctic and Neotropical Regions (Day 1988). * Claveliocnemis Wolf, 1968 Type species . Sphex annulata Fabricius, 1798, by subsequent designation of Westwood 1840: 82. According to Opinion 1820 (ICZN 1995) the Lichtenstein's work (1796) is suppressed for nomenclatural purposes and Sphex annulata Fabricius 1798 is not the junior homonym of Sphex annulata Lichtenstein 1796 and the supposed synonymy of type species (Wahis 1986) is invalid. A new synonymy of the type species is proposed: Sphex annulata Fabricius, 1798 (= Pompilus alternatus Lepeletier de Saint Fargeau, 1845, syn. nov. = Pompilus comparatus Smith, 1855, syn. nov. = Priocnemis culpabilis Costa, 1893, syn. nov. Salius annulatilis Richards, 1935, syn. nov. ) Distribution . Ctenopriocnemis Ishikawa, 1962 Type species . Ctenopriocnemis filicornis Ishikawa, 1962, by original designation. Distribution . Russia: Primorskiy Territory, South Kurils; South Korea, Japan (Loktionov & Lelej 2014). * Cyphononyx Dahlbom, 1845 Type species . Deuteragenia Šustera, 1912 (= Agenia Schiødte, 1837, type species Sphex variegata Linnaeus, 1758, by subsequent designation of Westwood 1840: 82; nom. praeocc., nec Agenia Descourtilz, 1825). Type species . Sphex variegata Linnaeus, 1758, by automatic designation (see Agenia Schiødte, 1837) (Article 67.8 of the Code (ICZN 1999)). Distribution . Russia: European part, Ural, Western and Eastern Siberia, Far East; worldwide (except Australia) (Lelej & Loktionov 2012 a, Loktionov & Lelej 2014). Remarks . For a long time Deuteragenia was regarded as synonym or subgenus of Dipogon Fox, but recently the generic status of Deuteragenia was reinstated (Lelej & Loktionov 2012 a). Eopompilus Gussakovskij, 1932 Type species . Eopompilus orientalis Gussakovskij, 1932, by original designation. Distribution . Russia: south of Far East; South Korea, Japan (Loktionov & Lelej 2014). * Hemipepsis Dahlbom, 1843 Type species . Hemipepsis capensis Dahlbom, 1843, by subsequent designation of Ashmead 1900: 187.
