Host records. Zele chlorophthalmus is a solitary larval parasitoid recorded of eight different Lepidoptera families: Depressariidae, Geometridae, Lasiocampidae, Lymantriidae, Noctuidae, Pyralidae, Tortricidae and Zygaenidae (Yu et al . 2012). It has been used as a biocontrol agent for Ostrinia nubilalis (Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) (Stigenberg and Ronquist 2011).
