The parasite is clearly different from any of its congeners based on photographs of recovered specimens (Nagasawa et al. 1984). The cephalothoracic papillae are dendritic and form a large mass covering the entire apical end of the parasite, a feature not yet reported from any other species of Pennella. Nagasawa et al. (1984, 1988) reported on the population dynamics and geographical distribution of the parasite; the authors were reluctant to classify the specimens further than the generic diagnosis based on the poor taxonomic condition of the genus. ... : Published as part of Hogans, W.
