ANT XV/3: 48-5, numerous hydrothecae, on S. lobata, with coppinia; ANT XVII/3: 111-9, several hydrothecae, on S. lobata, with coppinia; ANT XXI/2: PS65/276, numerous hydrothecae, on St. vanhoeffeni, with coppinia. Remarks. Cnidome comprising large microbasic mastigophores [range 10.0–12.0 x 4.0–4.5 µm, mean 10.9±0.8 x 4.1±0.2 µm (n=11)] and small microbasic euryteles [range 5.5–6.5 x 2.5–3.0 µm, mean 6.1±0.3 x 2.8±0.3 µm (n=18)]. Ecology and distribution. Species previously reported in Antarctic waters at depths from 42 (Stepanjants 1979) to 1658 m (Peña Cantero in press); present material from 62 to 277 m. Species known from all over Antarctic waters (Peña Cantero et al. 2004) and South Africa (Millard 1964, 1975). ... : Published as part of Soto, Joan J. & Peña, Álvaro L., 2019, Benthic hydroids (Cnidaria, Hydrozoa) from the Weddell Sea (Antarctica), pp. 1-78 in Zootaxa 4570 (1) on pages 20-22, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4570.1.1, http://zenodo.org/record/2608527 ... |
