Cetengraulis mysticetus (Günther, 1867). Anchoveta. To about 22 cm (8.7 in) TL (Robertson and Allen 2002). Los Angeles, southern California (Miller and Lea 1972) to Callao, Peru (Beltrán-León and Rios Herrera 2000), including Gulf of California (Whitehead and Rodríguez-Sánchez in Fischer et al. 1995) and Islas Galápagos (Grove and Lavenberg 1997). Marine and brackish waters (Fricke et al. 2020); depth: surface to 38 m (155 ft) (min.: Robertson and Allen 2002; max.: Personal communication: Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History Fish Collection, Los Angeles, California).
