CICE-Consortium/Icepack: Icepack with bottom drag, heat and nutrient turbulent diffusion

Minor updates from version 1.1. This release is focused on the usage of bottom shear in calculating sea ice bottom heat and nutrient exchanges. Shear can be used to calculate friction velocity and, thereafter, influence heat and tracer/nutrient exchanges, following parameters described in McPhee et...

This release is focused on the usage of bottom shear in calculating sea ice bottom heat and nutrient exchanges. Shear can be used to calculate friction velocity and, thereafter, influence heat and tracer/nutrient exchanges, following parameters described in McPhee et al. (2008). When the parameter kdyn is set to zero in ice_in, ice dynamics is not computed, but shear is calculated in the modified subroutines icepack_step_therm1, file icepack_therm_vertical.F90. If kdyn is not zero, these calculations are ignored since shear is already calculated in the dynamical part of the CICE code. This means that irrespective of using Icepack coupled with CICE with or without dynamics calculations included, Icepack calculates bottom shear as a function of the velocity difference between the ice and the ocean surface. So, heat and nutrient exchanges become consistent with momentum exchanges as calculated in CICE. Modified files: icedrv_constants.F90, icedrv_step.F90, icedrv_init_column.F90, icepack_algae.F90, icepack_brine.F90, icepack_parameters.F90, icepack_therm_vertical.F90, icepack_zbgc.F90 and icepack_zbgc_shared.F90 : Pedro Duarte made the changes in the files listed above in the Description of this release in the Icepack software developed by the CICE consortium: https://github.com/CICE-Consortium.
