Family Gonostomatidae Gonostoma elongatum Günther, 1878 —Elongated bristlemouth fish 8 specimens were caught at depths between 740 and 916 m. Length data were available for 4 specimens ranging from 18 to 24 cm TL. Habitat and Distribution: meso- to bathypelagic, depth range 0–4,740 m, usually between 100–200 m and 500–800 m at night and 25–600 m and 1,250–1,500 m during the day. Worldwide distribution, in tropical and subtropical Atlantic, Indian and Pacific oceans. In the eastern Atlantic, from off eastern Greenland, Iceland and Spain south to the Gulf of Guinea, being more common south of 40°N. Vulnerability: DD (IUCN), MV (FishBase). Sigmops bathyphilus (Vaillant, 1884) —Spark anglemouth 3 specimens between 10 and 12 cm TL were caught at depths between 1,536 and 1,809 m. Habitat and Distribution: bathypelagic, juveniles and adults at 700–3,000 m with marked stratification of size with depth.
