Haemulon maculicauda (Gill, 1862). Spottail Grunt . To 30 cm (11.8 in) TL (McKay and Schneider in Fischer et al. 1995). Isla de Cedros, central Baja California (Gotshall 1998) and Bahía Magdalena, southern Baja California (De La Cruz-Agüero et al. 1997) to Ecuador (Robertson and Allen 2015), and probably to northern Peru (Chirichigno and Vélez 1998), including Gulf of California (Galván-Magaña et al. 1996).
