Pacific Ocean off Honshu, Japan to Kuril Islands and Sea of Okhotsk (Kido 1988) to Bering Sea (Mecklenburg et al. 2002), Gulf of Alaska (Personal communication: University of Washington, Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture Fish Collection, Seattle, Washington) to northern California (35°26.5’N, 121°44.2’W) (Personal communication: University of Washington, Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture Fish Collection, Seattle, Washington); at least several captures reported from further south (e.g., central California (34°44’N), Weinberg et al. 2002; southern California (32°56’N), NWFSC-FRAM), but without voucher specimens.
