Hemilepidotus spinosus Ayres, 1854. Brown Irish Lord . To 33 cm (13 in) TL (DFO). Southern Bering Sea (Matarese et al. 2003) and northern Gulf of Alaska (Mecklenburg et al. 2002) to Santa Barbara Island, southern California (Bolin 1944); on mainland to Ventura, southern California (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California). Benthic; depth: intertidal to 175 m (574 ft) (min.: Mecklenburg et al. 2002; max.: DFO).
