description Rhamphocottus richardsonii Günther, 1874. Grunt Sculpin . To 9.3 cm (3.7 in) TL (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California). Japan (Yabe in Masuda et al. 1984); western Gulf of Alaska near Unalaska Island (Maslenikov et al. 2013), Sanak Islands (Personal communication: University of Washington, Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture Fish Collection, Seattle, Washington), and Semidi Islands (Love et al. 2005) to Santa Monica Bay, southern California (Eschmeyer and Herald 1983), and Tanner Bank (32°38’N, 119°09’W; Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California).Reported in Bering Sea by Clemens and Wilby (1946) as “north-western Alaska,” Wilimovsky (1954), and subsequent authors, but specific documentation has not been found (Mecklenburg et al. 2002). However, occurrence near Unimak Pass in the south-westernmost part of the Gulf of Alaska (Personal communication: University of Washington, Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture Fish Collection, Seattle, Washington) is well documented, and indicates the species likely does occur in the southern area of the Bering Sea. Benthic; depth: intertidal to 258 m (846 ft) (min.: Clemens and Wilby 1946; max.: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California). : Published as part of Love, Milton S., Bizzarro, Joseph J., Cornthwaite, Maria, Frable, Benjamin W. & Maslenikov, Katherine P., 2021, Checklist of marine and estuarine fishes from the Alaska-Yukon Border, Beaufort Sea, to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, pp. 1-285 in Zootaxa 5053 (1) on page 116, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.5053.1.1, http://zenodo.org/record/5578008 : {"references": ["Masuda, H., Amaoka, K., Araga, C., Uyeno, T. & Yoshino, T.
