Type locality: off Havana, Cuba. See: Koehler (1909); Mortensen (1940a). Occurrence: North Atlantic, in the West, in USA coast from northern Nova Scotia to the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico (Downey 1968, Serafy & Fell 1985); in the East recorded from the Azores and Canaries (Koehler 1909). Depth: 250– 1,187 m (Koehler 1909, Serafy & Fell 1985); AZO: 1,187 m (Koehler 1909). Habitat: soft substrates (Koehler 1909); feeds on bottom detritus (Serafy & Fell 1985). Larval stage: planktotrophic (Emlet 1995).
