description Thagria biretrorsa , sp. nov. (Plate 1C, Figs. 15–21) Length. Male 6.80 mm; female unknown External morphology. Medium size, slightly robust species. General color dark brown with small yellow spots on veins of forewings; head light brown, pronotum and mesonotum black with small yellow spots (Plate 1C); face pale yellow with large black spot below each eye; head narrower than pronotum, anterior margin rounded; crown broad, about as wide as eye width, produced distally about ¼ entire median length, lateral margins convergent basally; eyes large, elongate ovoid; pronotum large, about 1/3 longer than crown, surface bullated, median longitudinal carina, median longitudinal carina present; mesonotum large, about ¼ longer medially than pronotum; forewings typical; clypeus long, broad, lateral margins parallel; clypellus short, base broad, inflated, abruptly narrowed distally. Male genitalia. Pygofer in lateral view with short, bluntly pointed caudoventral lobe, caudodorsal margin with pair of moderately long digitate lobes curved ventrally, apex truncate (Fig. 15); segment X ventral processes in lateral view exposed, apex curved, sharply attenuated distally (Fig. 15); aedeagus symmetrical, in dorsal and lateral views very long, exceeding midlength of ventral paraphysis (Figs.16, 17); ventral paraphysis in dorsal view asymmetrical, in dorsal and lateral views long with 2 apical spines, 1 stout, long, 1 very short, each recurved in lateral view (Figs.16, 17); style very long, extending nearly to apex of ventral paraphysis, gradually tapered distally (Figs.18, 19); connective typical; dorsal connective in dorsobasal view broadly semicircular, rami attached to basolateral ventral process, stem small, quadrate (Fig 20), in lateral view attached basally to dorsal apodeme of aedeagus and distally to ventral base of segment X (Fig. 17); subgenital plate with tuft of long fine setae apically (Fig.21). Material examined. Holotype male. LAOS-N: (Oudomxai), 1–9.v.2002, 1100m., 20° 45’N 102° 09’E, OUDOM XAI (17 km. NEE), Vit Kaban, leg., Entomological Expedition, Laos, 2002, Moravian Museum, Czech Republic (BRNO) Etymology. The name is descriptive for 2 apical spines of ventral paraphysis which are recurved in lateral view. Remarks. This species is nearest to janssoni Nielson in configuration of the paraphysis and can be distinguished by the much longer style and a by pair of ventral processes on segment X which are absent in janssoni . : Published as part of NIELSON, M.
