In the eastern Pacific from off San Diego, USA, throughout the Gulf of California, Mexico, to off Panama and the Galapagos Islands (Siegel-Causey 1892, Vinogradov et al . 1996, Brusca & Hendrickx 2005, García Madrigal 2007). Remarks . Siegel-Causey (1982) reported this species as the third most abundant species in the Gulf of California where it was found from the upper to the southern Gulf. Occasionally to> 560 m depth (Siegel-Causey 1982); from 0 to 200 m depth (Vinogradov et al . 1996, García Madrigal 2007).
