Since the source of iodine is mainly marine, only ship-borne campaigns (19 cruises) and coastal or insular campaigns (36 ground-based stations) have been considered. The dataset contains data that have not been published previously: Newmayer II, JC18 Cruise, 23rd Chinese Antarctic Campaign, Celtic Explorer MAP 2006 cruise, RRS Discovery AMT21 cruise, and R/V Sonne OASIS and TransBrom cruises. Most of the aerosol samples were analyzed for total iodine (TI), but in some of the recent works total soluble iodine (TSI) analysis was reported. The associated paper describes a method for converting TSI into TI using data from campaigns where both TI and TSI were measured.
