Zameus squamulosus (Günther, 1877) Velvet Dogfish Centrophorus squamulosus G̹nther, 1877: 433. Holotype: BMNH 1880.5.1.1, Challenger station 232, off Inosima, Japan, 35°11'N, 139°28'E. Remarks : The first records of this species were found in the stomach of a Sperm Whale ( Physeter macrocephalus ) harpooned off Durban in 1971, which had four partially digested Z. squamulosus (Bass et al ., 1976).
