Range: The distribution of M. bombinus ranges throughout the Korean Peninsula and Jeju Island (Son 2001; Fig. 24); it commonly inhabits volcanic caves on Jeju Island (Jo et al. 2012). Remarks: Previously, M. bombinus was considered a subspecies of M. nattereri (Yoon 2010). Based on mtDNA analysis, M. bombinus seemed more related to M. chinensis and clearly distinct from M. nattereri in Greece (Kawai et al. 2003).
