Fairchild, flight trap, (1, NSMC). Catops simplex was reported by Peck and Cook (2002) from Labrador, insular Newfoundland, New Brunswick, and Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. The above records newly establish its presence on the mainland of Nova Scotia (Fig. 11). It is frequently collected at carrion in deciduous or mixed forests; also in litter, at bear dung, in mammal nests, in rotten mushrooms, and on dead snails.
