This Holarctic species is widely distributed in Europe, northern Asia, and throughout the United States (Parsons 1943, Downie and Arnett 1996). In Canada it has been recorded from British Columbia east to Québec and Nova Scotia (McNamara 1991; Majka and Cline 2006).
