Colopterus truncatus has been recorded in Canada from the Yukon east to Nova Scotia (McNamara 1991; Majka and Cline 2006), and it is broadly distributed in the United States south through Central America to Brazil (Parsons 1943). Adults are found under bark and feed on sap (Parsons, 1943) or on molds in subcortical environments (A. Cline, pers. obs.).
