Milne-Edwards & Bouvier 1900: 111; Alcock 1900: 392; Manning & Chace 1990: 64). LECTOTYPE (by present designation). — MNHN-IU-2000-3414 (= MNHN-B3414), ♂ 36.5 × 40.0 mm, Haiti, coll. M. Ricord. — Original label: " Grapsus grapsus (= Grapsus pictus , Grapsus maculatus ), M. Ricord, Haiti ". PRESERVATION OF THE LECTOTYPE. — Dry. LP23, RP12, RP5 missing. PARALECTOTYPE. — MNHN-IU-2000-1102 (= MNHN-B3414), 1 ♂ 29.2 × 32.7 mm, same data as lectotype. PRESERVATION OF THE PARALECTOTYPE. — Dry. REMARKS The origin of the species is the Antilles. The original sample MNHN-B3414 with two dry specimens (2 males) from Haiti is presumed to belong to the type series, the collector Ricord being known to have collected material in this region and sent to the MNHN.
