Summary: | The Vascular Plant Red List for Iceland reviews the status of plant species according to IUCN red listing guidelines. It was compiled in order to identify species that are threatened with extinction in Iceland and thus facilitate conservation efforts that should be undertaken to improve their status and prevent further decline. Of 436 species assessed, one was considered extinct (EX), eight were classified as critically endangered (CR), seven as endangered (EN) and 31 as vulnerable (VU). According to our assessment, ten species can be treated as near threatened (NT). Due to the lack of sufficient data ten species were classified in data deficient category (DD). |
