Summary:(Uploaded by Plazi for the Bat Literature Project) The distribution of bats inhabiting Carcaixent (Valencia; 59 km2) was studied at a spatial resolution of 1 km2. Vocalizations were recorded over 5 minutes using an ultrasound detector in all squares. Five species were detected: common pipistrelle Pipistrellus pipistrellus, soprano pipistrelle P. pygmaeus, Kuhl's pipistrelle P. kuhlii, Savi's bat Hypsugo savii and Schreiber's bat Miniopterus schreibersii. Individuals of Plecotus sp. and Myotis sp. were also detected, although we could not identify the species with the detectors used. The present study extends the distribution area of all these species in Spain. ...
