Description
Summary:(Uploaded by Plazi for the Bat Literature Project) Nathusius' pipistrelle (Pipistrellus nathusii) and Leisler's bat (Nyctalus leisleri) are two long-distance migratory vespertilionids that mainly reproduce in northeastern and central Europe in summer and migrate southwest in autumn. Based on new records of reproductive females and nonvolant juveniles from central Italy, we reassess the breeding ranges of these species in the Italian Peninsula and shift their boundaries southward over 350 and 310 km, respectively, for P. nathusii and N. leisleri.
