Summary: | Dolichiscus Richardson, 1913 Remarks: Dolichiscus is a genus of 25 species, most from the Southern Ocean but also occurring in the Western Atlantic and Southwestern Pacific (Boyko et al. 2024; Kussakin & Vasina 2001). The genus occurs from 4 m (Kussakin & Vasina 1980) to over 4000 m deep (Schultz 1981). The genus is diagnosed by an antennal flagellum of nine or more short articles, the basis of pereopod 4 with a strong distal setal group, its propodus with a row of long setae, and the male pleopod 1 having a groove opening on a distolateral triangular lobe of the exopod (Poore 1998). Wägele (1991) diagnosed the genus slightly differently relying on the pleotelson having a dorsomedian keel ending in a spine, and the long spindly legs. Wägele provided a key to ten Antarctic species and three of Paradolichiscus Schultz, 1981, treated here as a junior synonym. ... : Published as part of Poore, Gary C.
