It was designed to bring together expertise from different fields, from 20 partners both academic and industry, and from several EC countries. The different ideas and approaches were part of a whole concept, complementing methods to improve our overall knowledge and our imaging capacities of the subsurface for the exploitation of geothermal resources. EU framework programmes for research and development provide opportunities to bring these different areas of expertise from different countries together. That way colleagues have visualized the subsurface below Krafla and Reykjanes peninsula, tested new techniques and approaches and combined them with proven methods; approaches developed in Iceland and Italy were tested on the Azores; the regional subsurface below the Upper Rhine Valley in terms of temperature, stress and mechanical properties has been further improved, as a prerequisite for further developments at the local scale. Some of the approaches are now tested at other sites both with our European industry partners and elsewhere. : FP7 Text Akureyri Akureyri Akureyri Iceland DataCite Metadata Store (German National Library of Science and Technology) Akureyri Krafla ENVELOPE(-16.747,-16.747,65.713,65.713) Reykjanes ENVELOPE(-22.250,-22.250,65.467,65.467)
