Modern Society is strongly dependent on a reliable power supply. The availability of cheap and reliable supply of electrical energy is an indicator of societal welfare. Uninterrupted reliable operation of a modern power system depends to a great extent on reliable and satisfactory performance of insulators under different environmental conditions. This paper reports result of natural pollution tests that have been done at sites around city of Aligarh (India). Flashover voltage per insulation distance (FOVUID) of porcelain disc insulator for different pH values, ESDD has been recorded for proper correlation between electrical and chemical parameters. The pH of the contaminants has been suggested to be an effective pollution severity indicator and may be used as a diagnostic parameter for proper maintenance of porcelain insulators. : {"references": ["", "J.S.T.Looms, \"Insulators for High Voltage\", Peter Peregrinus Ltd.,\nLondon, 1990.", "Mackevich J and Shah,Minesh, \"Polymer Outdoor Insulating Materials\nPart I: Comparison of Porcelain and Polymer Electrical Insulation\",\nIEEE Electrical Insulation Magazine, May/June 1997, Vol13, No3,\npage 5-12.", "Lambeth, P.J, \"Effect of pollution on high voltage outdoor insulators\",\nProceedings of IEE, IEE Reviews, Vol. 118, No.9R, pp.1107-1130,\n1971.", "IEEE Working Group, \"Application of Insulators in a contaminated\nenvironment\", IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems,\nVol.PAS-98, No.5, pp.1676-1695, 1979.", "Ely, C.H.A and Lambeth, P.J \" Artificial Pollution Test for High\nVoltage Outdoor Insulators\", Proceedings of IEE, Vol. 111, No. 5,\npp.991-998,1964.", "Asfar A Khan et al, \"A Study of Flashover Voltage of Artificially\nPolluted Porcelain Disc Insulator under Natural Fog Conditions\"\nProceedings of 2008 International conference on condition monitoring\nand diagnosis (CMD2008), Beijing April 2008,, pp 369-371.", "Asfar Ali Khan et al, \" Effect of Contaminant pH and natural fog on\nnaturally polluted porcelain disc insulators in northern region of India\",\n2009 Annual report of IEEE Conference on Electrical Insulation and\nDielectric Phenomena (CEIDP 2009), Virginia USA, 18-21Oct. 2009, pp\n343-347.", "Asfar Ali Khan, \"Condition monitoring of insulators under pollution\"\nPh.D thesis, AMU, Aligarh 2009.", "Asfar A Khan and Ekram Husain, \"Flashover Characteristics of\nPorcelain Insulators near a Coal Fired Thermal Power plant\",\nProceedings of National Conference on Recent Trends in Electrical\nEngineering, LNCT Bhopal, 26-27 March 2010, pp 63-66.\n[10] Indian Standard IS 1876-1963.\n[11] M Ashfaq Ahmad, \"Study of artificially polluted suspension insulators\nunder Natural fog conditions\" M.Sc (Engg) Dissertation 1995.\n[12] McElroy, A.J et al,\"Insulators with contaminated surfaces, Part I: Field\nconditions and their laboratory simulation\" IEEE Transactions on Power\nApparatus and Systems, Vol.PAS-89, No.8, pp.1848-1858, 1970.\n[13] W.
