Russia (S RFE: S Sakhalin, S Khabarovskii Krai, Primorskii Krai), Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Tsushima), South Korea, China (NE, N, Central, SW). Remarks. The finding of X. hortensiaria in Sakhalin significantly expands its distribution range to the northeast. Ecologically it is associated with dry meadows. In Sakhalin it develops in two generations, the moths fly in late May—June, and in August. The hostplant of the larvae is unknown.
