Undersøgelsen har til formål at belyse om græsrodsbevægelsen har ændret karakter fra 1960''erne og 1970''erne, hvor ungdomsoprøret og de store sociale bevægelser brød frem. I 1970''erne var græsrodsbevægelsen et led i en omfattende politisk mobilisering. Der sammenlignes med tidligere undersøgelser, som viste de adfærdsformer, der ud fra forskellige teoretiske udgangspunkter er blevet kaldt aktionsdeltagelse, protestadfærd eller græsrodsdeltagelse. Ved at sammenligne den nye og de gamle undersøgelser vil det være muligt at finde ud af, om det er den samme type mennesker, der deltager, om det er de samme sager, der engagerer folk, og om græsrodsdeltagelsen spiller den samme rolle i det politiske liv, som den gjorde i 70''erne ... : The purpose of the survey is to examine whether the grass-roots movement has changed from the 1960s and 1970s, when the youth revolt and the large social movements started. In the 1970s the grass-roots movement formed part of a large-scale political mobilization. The results of this survey are compared with the results of previous surveys which dealt with the forms of behaviour which, according to different theoretical backgrounds, have been called action participation, protest behaviour or grass-roots participation. By comparing the new and the older surveys it becomes possible to find out whether it is the same type of people who participates, whether people commit themselves to the same causes, and whether grass-roots participation plays the same role in the political life as it did in the 1970s ...
