Contemporary observations by the spaceborne instruments MIPAS (Michelson Interferometer for Passive Atmospheric Sounding), MLS (Microwave Limb Sounder), and CALIOP (Cloud-Aerosol Lidar with Orthogonal Polarization) have provided an unprecedented polar vortex-wide climatological view of PSC occurrence and composition in both hemispheres.
