| Summary: | In July and August 1999, personnel from Prewitt and Associates, Inc., conducted an archeological survey and backhoe testing of 4,000 ft of a proposed water reuse pipeline at Fort Sam Houston Military Reservation, Bexar County, Texas. The pipeline will cross federal property, requiring that the project comply with the requirements of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended through 1992 (NHPA) (P.L. 89-665 et seq.). The part of the pipeline route examined was considered to warrant survey because it had a moderate to high probability of containing archeological sites, based on previous research done for the 1996 Cultural Resources Management Plan for Fort Sam Houston (Austin 1997) and consultation with the Texas Historical Commission done during development of the scope of work for the project.
