Summary: | Surface sediment (~1cm) was collected from Van Veen grab samples in the outer parts of four fjords. Water was collected with a Niskin bottle from surface (~20 m depth) and bottom (~5 m above the seafloor) and filtered through pre-combusted GF/F filters. In each fjord, samples were collected from two depth zones (100-150 m & 200-250 m) at the following positions: Isfjord (100-150 m: 78.249°N, 13.978°E; 200-250 m: 78.213°N, 14.388°E & 78.162°N, 14.174°E & 78.238°N, 14.388°E), Malangen (100-150 m: 69.535°N, 18.510°E; 200-250 m: 69.468°N, 18.372°E), Saltfjord (100-150 m: 67.155°N, 14.152°E; 200-250 m: 67.175°N, 14.130°E), and Selbjørnfjord (100-150 m: 59.995°N, 5.234°E; 200-250 m: 59.986°N, 5.246°E). Samples were analyzed following the EPA 445.0 method. Sediment and filters were extracted with 10 ml of 90% acetone at 4 °C in dark for 24h. Samples were centrifuged, and the supernatant was analyzed using a Turner Designs AU-10 fluorimeter before and after acidification with 100 μl 0.1 M HCl for ... |
