Antarctic krill is a large, long-lived pelagic crustacean that is widely distributed around Antarctica and is among the most abundant wild animal species on Earth by biomass. Krill form dense swarms, are the main food source for many predators, and play important roles in biogeochemical cycles. However, crucial gaps remain in our understanding of krill population dynamics.
