Continuous mapping of the seafloor was carried out using the multibeam systems (EM122, EM710); multi-frequency split beam echosounders, (ME70 and EK60); sub bottom profiler (SPB 120); gravimeter and magnetometer to characterise bathymetry for the identification of geothermal activity on the Heard Island-McDonald Island platform (HIMP) and Kerguelen plateau. Detailed characterisation of the volcano fields involved sampling of hydrothermal fluids for geochemistry purposes, also the use of dredging to retrieve rocks and volcanic glass for further onboard investigation. This dataset is published with the permission of CSIRO. Not to be used for navigational purposes. The dataset contains bathymetry grids of 10m to 210m resolution of the ...
