Статья посвящена деятельности одного из известных исследователей культуры, религии и быта аборигенов Дальнего Востока конца XIX века П.П. Шимкевича. Его труды как незаурядного исследователя, этнографа, собирателя посвящены малоисследованной области изучения коренного населения дальневосточного региона. Его перу принадлежит также обстоятельное изучение быта и экономического положения якутов, обитавших в Приамурском крае. П.П. Шимкевичем впервые были собраны наиболее подробные сведения об их расселении, о роли и значении якутской торговли в этом крае. Ему удалось ознакомиться с деятельностью якутских купцов, изучить якутский рынок, оценить состояние и особенности его развития. В своей статье Шимкевич писал также о благотворительной и просветительской деятельности якутских торговцев, которые приложили немало усилий в деле просвещения местных инородцев. Немаловажным результатом его экспедиционной деятельности являются музейная коллекция якутских предметов, собранных им среди якутов, расселенных в районе бассейна рек Буреи и Нимана, а также серия фотоснимков. В целом материалы исследований П.П. Шимкевича, содержащие ценные сведения о якутской торговой экспансии и территориальном освоении ими северных окраин Приамурья, несомненно, имеют важное значение для изучения истории расселения и формирования этнотерриториальных групп якутов. Некоторые вопросы, затронутые исследователем относительно сохранения коренного населения, созвучны с современными актуальными проблемами малочисленных народов Севера. : The article is devoted to the activities of P.P. Shimkevich. He was one of the famous researchers of culture, religion and life of the natives of the Far East at the end of the 19th century. His works, as an outstanding researcher, ethnographer, collector, are devoted to the little-explored area of study of the indigenous population of the Far Eastern region. He also penned a thorough study of the life and economic situation of the Yakuts who lived in the Amur region. For the first time he collected the most detailed information about their settlement, about the role and importance of the Yakut trade in this region. He managed to get acquainted with the activities of the Yakut merchants, study the Yakut market, assess the state and features of its development. In his article, Shimkevich also touched upon the charitable and educational activities of Yakut merchants, who devoted a lot of efforts to enlightening local foreigners. An important result of his expeditionary activities are the museum collection of Yakut items and a series of photographs collected by him among the Yakuts settled in the basin of the Bureya and Nimana rivers. In general, the research materials of P.P. Shimkevich, containing valuable information about the Yakut trade expansion and their territorial development of the northern outskirts of the Amur region, are undoubtedly important for the study of the history of settlement and the formation of ethno-territorial groups of Yakuts.
