Авторами статьи сделана попытка представить виды культурной деятельности, которые в экстремальных условиях военного времени были наиболее востребованы и эффективны, как фактор воздействия на сознание людей и их моральное состояние, в частности, образование, физкультурное движение, театральная деятельность, изобразительное искуство и литература. Раскрываются основные направления перестройки работы Союза писателей Якутии, учреждений культуры, народного просвещения, физкультуры и спорта в годы Великой Отечественной войны. Подчеркивается, что, несмотря на все трудности (нехватку кадров, снижение финансирования, отсутствие необходимого оснащения и оборудования для учреждений сферы, тяжелые условия жизни), культурная жизнь республики не только не замедлилась, но и поднялась на новый, качественно иной уровень развития. Особое внимание уделено литературному процессу Якутии военного времени. Именно в эти годы начинается новый этап в истории литературы Якутии, когда без внутренней генетической опоры на классиков якутской литературы усилился интерес к фольклорной традиции. В то же время активизировалась борьба за наследие основоположников якутской литературы А.Е. Кулаковского, А.И. Софронова и Н.Д. Неустроева, прорывом в которой стали работы Г.П. Башарина, сыгравшие выдающуюся роль в пробуждении национального самосознания народа саха. : The authors of the article attempt to present the types of cultural activities that were most popular and effective in extreme conditions of wartime as a factor of influence on people's consciousness and morale, in particular, education, physical culture, theater, fine arts and literature. The main directions of the restructuring of the Union of Writers of Yakutia, cultural institutions, public education, physical education and sports during the Great Patriotic War are revealed. The authors stress the attention to the fact that despite all the difficulties (shortage of qualified personnel, decreased level of funding, the lack of necessary facilities and equipment and challenging living conditions), the cultural life of the republic not only slowed down but also excelled to a new and different level of development in terms of its quality. Special focus is given to the process of literary development in Yakutia during the wartime period. It was during these years which served as the starting point of a new stage in the history of Yakutian literature, when there was an increased interest in the folklore traditions despite the fact that there was no interior genetic basis from the classical writers of Yakut literature that other literature experts could refer to. At the same time, there was an increasing battle for the preservation of the literary heritage created by the founders of Yakut literature: A.E. Kulakovsky, A.I. Sofronov, and N.D. Neustroev; such scholars as G.P. Basharin and his research works played an important role in the awakening of the national self-identity of the Sakha people.
